How to set up VotingPlugin vote rewards

NuVotifier tells your server that someone voted. VotingPlugin decides what that player gets. It is free, works on Paper and Spigot, and is the most used vote reward plugin.

Before you start, make sure NuVotifier is installed and a test vote arrives. If not, see how to install NuVotifier first.

Step 1: Install VotingPlugin

1. Download VotingPlugin from its SpigotMC page.
2. Put the `.jar` in `plugins` and restart the server.
3. A folder `plugins/VotingPlugin` appears. The files you need are `VoteSites.yml` (one entry per server list) and `SpecialRewards.yml` (vote parties, streaks and other extras).

Step 2: Add a server list

Each list you are on gets one entry in `VoteSites.yml`. Here is an entry for CraftVote:

What each line does:

• CraftVote (the first line under `VoteSites`): the site's name inside VotingPlugin. You can pick any name without spaces.
• ServiceSite: the name the list sends with each vote. It must match, or VotingPlugin ignores the vote. CraftVote sends `CraftVote`.
• VoteURL: the link players see with `/vote`. Use your own vote link from your server's page.
• VoteDelay: hours until a player can vote on that list again. On CraftVote it is 24.
• Rewards: what the player gets. `Commands` run from the console; `%player%` becomes the player's name.

YAML is picky: use spaces, never tabs, and keep the same indentation as above.

Step 3: Pick the rewards

A few common rewards, all inside `Rewards:`:

• Money: `Money: 100` gives in-game money. It needs Vault and an economy plugin (EssentialsX, for example).
• Commands: anything your console can run, like a crate key from your crate plugin.
• Messages: `Player:` is sent to the voter. `Broadcast:` is sent to everyone.

Keep rewards small and daily. Rewards that decide fights push away players who don't vote. More ideas in vote reward ideas by gamemode.

Step 4: Reload and test

1. Run `/av reload` (or restart the server).
2. Test the rewards without a list: `/av vote YourName CraftVote`. The last word is the site's name from `VoteSites.yml`.
3. Test the whole chain: on CraftVote, open your server's page, type your name and press Send test vote.

Don't know a list's ServiceSite name?

Every list sends its own name. To find it, vote once (or send a test vote), then look at your console: VotingPlugin logs the service site it received. The command `/av servicesites` lists every name your server got.

VotingPlugin can also make the entry for you: set `AutoCreateVoteSites: true` in `Config.yml`, vote once, then fix the new entry's `VoteURL` and rewards. Set it back to `false` when you're done.

Let players find your vote links

• `/vote` shows players every vote link from `VoteSites.yml`.
• Put the same links in your Discord and on your website.
• On CraftVote, players vote once a day with their Minecraft name. No account needed.

Extras worth setting up later

`SpecialRewards.yml` holds the fun parts:

• Vote party: when the whole server reaches a number of votes, everyone online gets a reward.
• Milestones and streaks: a bonus for 7 days in a row, or for the 50th vote.
• Top voters: a cosmetic reward for the month's top voters.

These keep players voting every day, which is what moves you up a list ranked by votes, like CraftVote.
