How to give vote rewards on a Bedrock server

Bedrock servers can't run Votifier the way Java servers do, but they can still reward players for voting. Here are the three ways, and which one fits your server.

On Java, vote rewards are simple: the server list sends the vote to your server, and a plugin gives the reward. On Bedrock it depends on what your server runs, because most Bedrock servers can't receive votes that way.

First, find out which kind of Bedrock server you have.

Which one is your server?

  • Bedrock Dedicated Server (BDS): Mojang's own server software. It runs addons (behavior packs), not plugins.
  • A Java server with Geyser: a Paper or Spigot server that lets Bedrock players in through Geyser and Floodgate.
  • Nukkit: a Bedrock server written in Java that runs its own plugins.

Each one has its own way to do vote rewards.

Bedrock Dedicated Server: the player claims the reward

A BDS can't listen for votes from outside, so it works the other way round. The player votes on the list, then types `/vote` in the game. Your server asks the list "did this player vote today?" and, if yes, gives the reward.

On CraftVote this uses a vote key and the free BedrockVote addon:

  1. On your server's page on CraftVote, press Make my vote key.
  2. Install BedrockVote on your server, as its page explains.
  3. Before you start the server, open `scripts/data/config.js` in BedrockVote's folder.
  4. Replace the `"urls"` part with the block from your server's page (press Copy). Your key is already inside.
  5. Start the server. Vote with your own gamertag, type `/vote` in the game, and you get the reward.

Change the file before BedrockVote's first start, and keep the links private: they hold your key. The rewards themselves (items or commands) are set in BedrockVote, see its page. The Bedrock guide has every step with pictures.

Check a name on your server's page shows whether a player's vote arrived, which helps when someone says "I voted but got nothing".

Java with Geyser: the normal Java way

If Bedrock players join your Java server through Geyser, you don't need anything Bedrock-specific. Use NuVotifier and a reward plugin like on any Java server: see how to install NuVotifier and how to set up VotingPlugin.

The one thing to watch is names. Floodgate puts a dot in front of Bedrock names, like `.Steve_Craft`. On CraftVote, players pick Java or Bedrock when they vote, and Bedrock votes are sent with the Floodgate name, so the reward finds the right player. The Geyser guide covers it.

Nukkit: Votifier for Bedrock

Nukkit has its own Votifier plugin, VotifierNukkit. It receives votes like NuVotifier and gives the rewards itself.

  1. Install VotifierNukkit and restart. Open its port (default `8192`, TCP).
  2. Set the reward commands in `plugins/VotifierNukkit/config.yml`.
  3. On CraftVote, open Nukkit server? Use Votifier instead on your server's page and pick Votifier v1 (public key).
  4. Paste the key from `plugins/VotifierNukkit/keys/public.key` and save. Never paste `private.key`.
  5. Type your gamertag and press Send test vote. Your console shows the vote.

Details in the Nukkit guide.

Tell your players how it works

Bedrock players are often new to voting. A short message in your Discord and at spawn helps:

  • Where to vote: your vote link, for example `craftvote.com/server/your-server-name/vote`.
  • What name to use: their Xbox gamertag, exactly as it shows in the game.
  • On a Bedrock Dedicated Server: type `/vote` after voting to claim the reward.

On CraftVote, players can vote once a day per server. Every vote also moves your server up the Bedrock server list, which is ranked by this month's votes.
